Gratitude

Yesterday was Mother’s Day, I loved seeing all the posts of flowers, cards, breakfast in bed and family brunch. The well wishes from loved ones hoping I had a wonderful Mother’s Day were very sweet and I replied in kind.

My thoughts were also on those who’s kids and/or husbands did nothing for them, seeing their posts of disappointment and how they hated feeling that way as they fought back tears.

My heart breaks for those who felt missed, unimportant or who are dealing with estrangement either physical or emotional. Relationships are hard, they can get messy and these types of holidays only highlight the pain for those who are in a severed relationship either by choice or death. My heart also breaks for the women who want so badly to be a mother but cannot and would give anything to be missed on Mother’s Day only if it meant being missed by the children she wants so badly but for whatever reason that joy has not been granted to her.

I want to validate each and every woman who felt less than yesterday or missed for whatever reason. We are not defined by a made up holiday nor, does this day prove how amazing we are. How strong are we? We somehow manage to keep a semblance of ourselves after sacrificing so much for everyone else throughout the entire year, making sure no one feels “missed” on their birthday or Father’s Day or any other day for that matter. We work hard to keep the peace, be the cook, the chauffeur, the counselor, the healer, the comforter, the educator, we wear many hats.

We are sunflowers, we are resilient, we are radiant in the sun,we are rooted firmly in the ground and we bloom wherever we are planted.

My skin beauties I want you to go do something today that reminds you of how beautiful and strong and resilient you are. Self-care is a vital part of being a mom. We must give to ourselves in order to give back to the others in our life. I encourage you to have a gratitude journal, meditate/pray, yoga, go for a walk, get into nature, get a facial 🙂

Much love, blessings and skincare,

What’s Your Calling?

What’s Your Calling?

I’m often asked how to build an ideal clientele and my answer is always, networking! Last week,  I had the honor of hearing Sandra Yancey speak at my EWomenNetwork Luncheon. I not only had the pleasure of hearing her speak but somehow, I was blessed to be seated right next to her at the luncheon! She gave me an invaluable contact, her daughter, who coordinates all the MUA’s for NY Fashion Week!! What a great connection and priceless contact to help me when I launch My Favorite Skincare by Sherena. So, you never know what a small investment of time can do to connect you to the right people at the right time.

I want to talk about your calling. A calling is different than a job and it’s different than a dream, it’s what you were put on this earth to do. Sandra spoke about this at her Rise Conference and it really resonated with me. I always dreamed about having my own skincare line, a selection of products that are my favorites, that have quality ingredients, have affordable price points and are accessible to everyone. Sandra said “there’s a higher level desire than a dream, it’s your calling and your calling won’t quit you” meaning, if you can’t stop thinking about it, you should never stop working for it. Know your calling, value it and honor it. Work towards it until it becomes a reality.

I never thought I would be launching my own skincare company but it’s my calling and it won’t quit me. My concept for My Favorite Skincare by Sherena is innovation; I’m taking something that everyone sees and I’ve turned it into something no one else has thought was possible. I’m changing the way we do business in the professional skincare world and making it inclusive instead exclusive. Exclusivity has already been done over and over again with celebrity endorsed products, expensive high-end products, over-priced direct sales products with very few effective ingredients. I’m doing this not only because it’s my calling but also because everything has the opportunity to be better and when you know better, you do better.

What’s your calling?

Live the Spa Lifestyle

Live the Spa Lifestyle

I’m Sherena Jarvi I’m a licensed esthetician. My passion is teaching skincare.

As the Founder/CEO of My Favorite Skincare, I want everyone to experience the spa lifestyle. I know that sounds expensive and unattainable for everyone but I’m going to teach you how it’s possible to live the spa lifestyle a little bit each and every day.

Begin every day with 3 deep cleansing breaths, think of 3-5 things you are grateful for and find 5 minutes to read affirmations or journal.

This is my first blog post & I’m so excited to share all the happenings in the facial room, my skincare business & the launch of my skincare products.

Many consumers aren’t able to afford a visit to an esthetician, and do not have the opportunity to be educated on the skin and the products they’re using. I’m changing all that, by bringing affordable skincare to you along with the education necessary for you to make the best choices for your skin.

Coming up . . . Skincare basics. Everything you need to know to start taking care of your skin now to see changes in 2 weeks.
